Sports and recreational facilities are located on campus in the Multi-Purpose Centre (An Dánlann).
Facilities include a modern fitness suite, a large sports hall, an 8 metre high climbing wall and a regulation size floodlit soccer pitch. The facilities are available to all students and cater for all abilities – from those interested in recreation and keeping fit to local and intervarsity competitions. There is an active and vibrant sports culture throughout the institute.
Sports Clubs
ATU Donegal runs a very busy sports programme throughout the academic year in association with Student Sport Ireland, the GAA, the FAI and Basketball Ireland.
The sports programme is run by the Head of Sport who manages the competitive fixtures and teams. The Head of Sport is always happy to assist students with the required information on how to get involved in competitive sports at ATU Donegal.
ATU Donegal has a variety of competitive and recreational sports clubs, with many (both male and female) also involved in higher education and university competitions, in the following sports:
- Athletics
- Badminton
- Basketball
- Boxing
- GAA
- Hurling
- Soccer
Individual participation in a number of other sports is encouraged and supported. We will help you find, and participate in, your preferred sport.
We also collaborate with other local sports facilities which include; Letterkenny Community Centre 4G Pitch, Aura Leisure Centre and St. Eunan’s GAA Club.
